Dancing in the Apocalypse
The World is Ending! The World is Ending!
All that we know is coming to end, what lay ahead? I do not know! All is flux, entropy; the inherent instability of the universe brings to a close what we once knew and forces us into that which we do not!
Where to start!? I do not know! Everything is in change! I am in change! Ought the world not change as well? Nothing is permanent, all that is born; dies; all that grows; becomes ripe, is eaten or rots, returning back to the primordial cycle of all that is!
Are we all going to die from a Climate Crisis which will wipe us all out? Can we maintain a style of life which will not exterminate all living things which exist?
I do not know!
Everything is shifting, everything is changing, the soil we thought was so firm, trembles under our feet, an earthquake is shattering everything we built upon! We live at the end of times, we live at the dawn of a new beginning!
Will technology make my work obsolete? Is everything I am capable of doing, to be replaced by technology? Will I have a job next year?
I do not know!
The World is Ending! The World is Ending!
A demographic crisis like we haven't seen since the black death is at our doorstep! An ageing population that will cut deeper and deeper into tax payer money. Public services to get worse and worse! Taxes to be higher and higher! Can we afford this? Can we survive this?!
I do not know!
A restructuring of the Global Order towards one of conflict, of the likes which we haven't seen since World War Two, countries annexing other countries and others settling old scores, Might is Right! Might is Right! The Global Order as we know it, ever shifting beneath our feet! What to do? What to do??
I do not know! I do not know!!
Whatever that will be or is to come, we have our part to play! Nothing happens in a vacuum, we can all write the script!
There comes a time when one must fight! Everything we have; can be taken away! Have you learnt to impose your will on reality? Have you learnt to see the ideal and bring it forth into existence? We all are sculptors of reality, just make sure you can see that which is beautiful!
There is a time to fight indeed! There is also a time to dance! Have you learnt to dance to the music of the world? Have you learnt to live in harmony with all that is? Have you learnt to listen to the heartbeat of existence? If not, go forth and learn to listen and move your Being to the music at play! Learn to dance to the music of Life!
But most importantly!
Have you learnt to dance and laugh in the heat of battle?! Have you learnt to smile while everything burns? He who can laugh at the terrors of Life, laughs best!
What is here to come, what is here to stay, I do not know!
The world is ending
ReplyDeleteThe world is not ending, our societies might become unrecognisable but to end implies that it was an immanent thing to begin with. Everything is increasing or decreasing. In a state of flux. Advancement and regression. Something never IS for more than a moment. As soon as you climb the mountain, the end or decent has already begun, but something new may just be beginning. Sometimes something can end years before it’s noticed, or begin years before it is started.
What is the value of ideals in a transitory world? The ideal can never be maintained. It is not about how one can impose their will on reality but how one reflects on and contemplates about what reality offers and how it affects the will.? How does behaviour change in light of a dissolving world order? How do we assure that the changes likely to occur, in the will and in society, tend towards the good?
Joy can be found in the most remote suffering, often it is found not by fighting against but a deep embracing of reality. To engage with reality in such a profound way so that dancing is a natural way of life. Fighting should be avoided at all costs but if one has to fight, they ought to know what they are fighting about and what it is that they intend to protect.
You cannot learn to tango without thinking about how to tango. But do not become alive until you let the music move you.
